Technical talc for seed drills is used instead of graphite or in a talc-graphite mixture, it is poured into the seed hopper together with the seed.
Talc is a crystalline mineral. It is a crumbly, greasy to the touch powder of green or white color. The lighter the talc, the higher its quality. For industrial needs, talc of a finer fraction - micro talc (crushed) is also used.
Talc is widely used in various spheres of life:● In medicine - as the main component of powder, in the composition of bio supplements - as a source of silicon and magnesium;● In industry - perfumery, cosmetics, paint and varnish industry;● In the manufacture of rubber products - prevents sticking;● In food industry - as food additive E553b;● In the manufacture of ceramic products - most commonly in electrical and radio insulators;● In the petroleum industry as additives for motor oils;● In the plastics industry, as an additive that improves material properties and shortens curing time.
Technical talc is used in seed drills and precision seeders to reduce the risk of injury and seed sticking, it significantly increases the service life of units and assemblies.
Technical talc for seeders provides antistatic and water repellent effect, does not contain harmful impurities, the size of the powder fraction does not exceed 20 microns. The advantages of its use in agriculture are undeniable:
● Increases the efficiency of seed drills;
● Extends the service life of agricultural equipment;
● Suitable for all types of vacuum seeders;
● Works as a dry lubricant for parts;
● Increases the bulkiness of the seed, thus shortening the sowing time;
● Prevents seed sticking and damage to seeds.
Technical talc for seed drills improves the quality of sowing work. The rate of its use depends on many factors:
● The preparation used for seed treatment;
● Weather conditions;
● Type of seeder, etc.
The optimum amount of talc is determined by experience. The average rate is 1.5 g/1 seeding unit, in case of pre-treatment of seeds with fertilizers or increased moisture the figure is doubled. In seed drills with finger picker losses are 0.2 g per sowing unit.
Technical talc is recommended to use for enrichment of seed in pneumatic seeders of different types. The powder can be used when working with seeding equipment Lemken, Kverneland, Monosem, Great Plains, Kinze, John Deere and others.
